Founded in 1977, Zyscovich Architects currently has over 90 employees hailing from more than 26 different countries. With a “concept to keys” approach, the firm offers an integrated practice of urban planning, architecture, and interior design. This collaboration of services enables us to provide a streamlined and cohesive solution that takes our client all the way from the inception of an idea, to the presentation of the keys to the front door.
 
Bernard Zyscovich, FAIA
President and Managing Partner Bernard Zyscovich, FAIA, has been probing the parameters of design innovation for more than 30 years. A dedicated preservationist and urbanist, he has served in numerous community leadership roles including Chairmanship of the Miami Design Preservation League, the organization responsible for the historic designation of the Miami Beach Art Deco District; Presidency of the Miami Chapter of the American Institute of Architects; and co-sponsorship of South Florida’s first Tropical Green Conference. Mr. Zyscovich’s writing on architecture and urban design has been published widely in numerous magazines. His book, Getting Real About Urbanism, was published by the Urban Land Institute in October of 2008. Mr. Zyscovich received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Pratt Institute in 1971.
 
Jose Murguido, AIA, REFP
Vice President and Partner, Jose Murguido, AIA, oversees the firm’s academic and municipal projects. His expertise extends from academic facility planning and design to urban design and site analysis, and from contract administration to ADA compliance. Mr. Murguido has led the Education Group to become one of Florida’s premiere K-12 and Higher Education design firms. Under his guidance, the Education Group has developed a variety of specialized educational facilities, including much lauded prototype designs
that have been repeated throughout the State of Florida. Mr. Murguido holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute.
 
Anabella Vogeler Smith, IIDA
Anabella Vogeler Smith, IIDA, Principal and Director of Interior Design at Zyscovich Architects, has been with the firm since 1993. During this time she has overseen projects ranging from the interior design of multifamily high-rise towers to consolidation, strategic planning, and corporate relocation of Capital Bank [Miami], Broward County Zoning and Planning, and Baptist Hospital Administration [Miami]. Working closely with the firm’s managing principal, Bernard Zyscovich, and her diverse and dynamic interior’s team, Ms. Smith has contributed to the firm’s emphasis on innovation and leadership through a commitment to design that minimizes environmental impact and the integration of efforts. Her involvement ranges from the actual operation of a space to the environmental performance and sustainability.

 
Suria Yaffar, Assoc. AIA, LEED® AP
As Principal and Director of Design, Suria Yaffar oversees the design of projects ranging from multifamily high-rise towers to the master planning of new and redeveloped neighborhoods. Ms. Yaffar has contributed to the firm’s emphasis on innovation and to the development of Bernard Zyscovich’s theory of Real Urbanism. Ms. Yaffar received her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Miami and her Master of Architecture from Princeton University. Ms. Yaffar was named the Urban Planner of the Year by AIA Miami in 2008.
 
Mario Suarez, LEED® AP
As Principal and Director of International Development, Mr. Suarez directs many of the firm’s most substantial projects. Mr. Suarez has more than 17 years of architectural design experience on projects such as the New 36-gate Eldorado International Airport in Bogota, Colombia and the 2 million SF Park Square Mixed Use Development in Doral, Florida. Mr. Saurez is a LEED accredited professional with a degree in Architecture from the Universidad de los Andes and holds an MBA degree from Cornell University. A main area of focus for Mr. Suarez is the expansion of the firm’s international presence in Central and South American markets.
 
Larry Rosenbloom, AIA
Larry is the Managing Principal of Zyscovich New York. Larry has over 35 years of architectural design experience and brings to the Zyscovich team a deep understanding of the Northeast region as both an architect and urban designer. His substantial portfolio of work includes mixed-use, retail, large scale municipal infrastructure/transportation projects and transit oriented development communities. Most recently Larry has been recognized for his lead role in the retail design for the New 42nd project, an iconic urban mixed use development street in New York City. Larry also has extensive expertise in both the execution of rollout programs for national retailers and the development of modified prototypes for urban environments. Larry is a member of the Board of Directors of Vision Long Island and has served as a consultant to key transportation agencies.
 
Anne Fletcher, AIA, LEED® AP
Anne is a Principal of Zyscovich New York. Anne joined Zyscovich in 2001 and established the New York office in 2005. Anne has extensive hospitality, multi-family, mixed-use, commercial, and educational design experience. As an active full member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), she is Co-chair of the New York District Council's Sustainable Building Council and sits on the Management Committee and Advisory Board. She serves on the Board of Women in Housing and Finance - New York (WHF) and Board of Advisors for AXS Lab. Anne is also a member of WX (Women Executives in Real Estate NY), the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and Urban Green (USGBC NY). She was honored as one of the industry's rising stars in Building Design + Construction's fourth annual "40 Under 40" list in January 2010.
