Coral Glades High School

Coral Springs

This 2875-student station high school is composed of a two-building campus situated around a large courtyard.  The assembly functions, such as the gym and dining facilities are housed in a one-story building opposite the courtyard.  The courtyard is lushly landscaped and provides covered dining to encourage outdoor use. The two building campus easily facilitates after-hours assembly uses without opening the entire school to the public. The assembly building houses a state-of-the-art hurricane shelter.  The school is designed for a 2000 student capacity with the core areas designed to accommodate future growth of 2875 students. When necessary, a new classroom wing and auditorium can be built to the south to engage the loggia at the assembly building and become an integral part of the school community.

The food service area of the school is designed as a “Student Union” food court concept where students are quickly served and still have time to socialize or catch-up on work.  The gym is designed with natural light to help offset lighting cost for the school’s operation. The library is a signature space on this campus. Designed to accommodate after-hours use, this space has state-of-the-art technology while providing a comforting environment to relax and enjoy books.

This project included working closely with the City of Coral Springs to design the adjacent Coral Springs Sportsplex, a recreational sports park that boasts parking and field amenities for both school and after hour community use via an interlocal agreement.
