Maxwell ES-MS Parametric Design Charrette

Location: Maxwell Air Force Base, AL

The Maxwell Elementary/Middle School (MEMS) Partial Replacement/Renovation Parametric Design Charrette work consisted of performing the engineering, design and support services necessary in preparation of the Code 3 Parametric Design Charrette Report and the scoping/cost document required for funding allocation, DD Form 1391, in coordination with the USACE (Norfolk and local), DoDEA headquarters and local DDESS in support of the DoDEA 21st Century Schools and Facilities Renovation and Construction Initiative. The project is planned for the FY16 MILCON budget cycle with an opening in Fall 2018.

Zyscovich began with a field investigation engineering analysis of the existing facilities and the surrounding site areas. In coordination with the provided program for design (PFD) the program was confirmed and the renovation/remodel areas defined. The resulting areas were planned for the new expansion in consideration of all required factors. All applicable standards and codes were incorporated including DoDEA Education Facilities Specifications, AT/FP standards, Low Impact Development Design (LIDD), ADAAG, NFPA Life Safety Code, IBC, Standards of Seismic Safety for Federally Owned Buildings, and energy conservation standards. A presentation of concept site and floor plan options was held with the local DDESS office and confirmed for the Charrette presentation for all stakeholders. With the week-long Parametric Design Charrette, a final report was developed and support parametric estimate budgetary information confirmed in support of the DD Form 1390/1391 development in accordance with the DoDEA Headquarters Facilities Management Guide Parametric Design Charrette (Code 3) Instruction.
