Hacemos los lugares de la gente.

Mario Suarez, Assoc. AIA, LEED® APPartner

“We are much more than architects, designers and planners. We view ourselves as specialists in finding the local hearts in the global village. We stand by the belief that great ideas are generated by the convergence of multiple, often diverging and diverse points of view."

Mario Suarez, Assoc. AIA, LEED® AP

Armed with more than 25 years of experience in architecture and planning, both in the United States and abroad, Suarez is viewed as one of the most valued members of the Zyscovich team.

One of Suarez’s primary roles with Zyscovich Architects is to lead and oversee all of the firm's mega-sized, national and international institutional projects, including airport terminals for passengers and cargo, governmental and corporate offices, and major mixed-use urban facilities, including hotels, shopping and luxury multi-family housing. .

One of his most notable projects to date involves the architectural design of Latin Americas’ largest passenger and cargo terminal known as “El Dorado International Airport” in Bogota, Colombia. His depth of knowledge of international construction codes along with his unparalleled attention and detail to building strong client relationships makes Suarez second to none.

In addition to overseeing all aviation projects for the firm, Suarez is also responsible for master planning, programming and production and coordination of technical construction documents, as well as the administration of the construction phase.

As an example, Suarez recently worked closely with an airport concessionaire, exploring ways to generate airport revenue while meeting the operational requirements of the project. Under his management, the firm met the client’s aggressive project delivery deadlines and managed the effective presentation and approval of the design documents to key stakeholders and to the government’s technical advisor on behalf of the concessionaires.

Additionally, he has also directed the expansion and modernization of six airports in the northeast region of Colombia. His responsibilities included management, technical direction and coordination of multiple components of these projects.

His knowledge has proven to be fundamental in defining processes of communication to meet the expectations of complex institutional clients.  His continuous management process, team solving and the involvement of the architectural team at all levels, facilitates the preparation of documents that meet high quality control standards.

Suarez holds a Masters in Business Administration from Cornell University and an Architectural license from the country of Colombia. He is also extremely proficient in the preparation of drawings in English and Spanish.
