Throughout her career, Yaffar has overseen projects ranging from the design of multifamily high-rise towers to the master planning of many new urban designed communities. Working closely with the firm’s managing principal, Bernard Zyscovich, Yaffar has contributed to the firm’s emphasis on innovation and development of his theory of Real Urbanism™.

 

Yaffar has overseen some of the firm’s most significant work, including Midtown Miami, a 56-acre urban redevelopment project; the 500 Block of Collins, an urban retail and parking facility in the center of Miami Beach’s Art Deco District; and the Downtown Master Plan, developed for the Miami Downtown Development Authority.

 

Yaffar has lectured for many years in the University of Miami’s Architecture Department and an Associate Professor at Florida International University. Yaffar speaks nationally on the subject of architecture and urban planning; some of her recent speaking engagements include: the Florida American Planners Association Annual Conference, “Capacity Driven Codes vs. Form Based Codes: A New Vision for West Palm Beach,” Florida American Planners Association Annual Conference, “Lessons Learned in Hollywood Beach” and the Urban Land Institute Technical Assistance Panel Program.

 

She is an associate member of the American Institute of Architects, a member of the American Planning Association, and a member of the Urban Land Institute.

 

Yaffar holds a Masters in Architecture degree from Princeton University and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Miami. In 2008, she was named "Urban Designer of the Year" by the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Miami Chapter.
